Position: Camp Counselor-Camp Aurora-Male Applicants Only

Starting Salary: DOE

Position Duties: The Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision of children attending Camp Aurora. Duties include 24 hour monitoring of children, supervision of children’s activities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment at all times.

Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Must be at least 19 years old. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience. Camping experience and experience supervising children is preferred.

Communication Skills: Must possess ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Must possess ability to interact effectively with consumer, family, agency personnel and public. Fluency in American Sign Language required.

Equipment: None at this time.

Certifications and Clearances: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, background check, TB test, current First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.

Knowledge: Knowledge of the deaf culture particularly as it is experienced by children. Have a strong desire to make an impact on Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth.
